Hilda Back to upload evidence of cooking record, as Guinness World Records releases new statement

Hilda Effiong Bassey, a Nigerian chef popularly known as Hilda Baci, in a statement on Tuesday, said her team was working on uploading the evidence for review.

This is as Guinness World Records, on Tuesday, released new statement on the feat achieved by the Akwa Ibom State born chef.

Hilda in a statement via her cook-a-thon Twitter page, said, “Thank you all for all the love and support you have shown throughout this journey towards achieving a world record. It has been amazing.

“We would like you to know we haven’t received the award yet, and we’re currently working on uploading our evidence, Thank You.”

The Lagos-based chef began her cook-a-thon on Thursday after she turned on her cooker at 4 pm and hit a 100-hour record time on Monday evening.

If certified after the 100th hour, she will be displacing the current world record holder, Lata Tondon, an Indian chef who achieved the feat in 2019 with 87 hours 45 minutes record uninterrupted cooking.

Meanwhile, Guinness World Records in a ran official statement following the recent feat achieved by Hilda, said “She’s hoping to snap up the record title for the longest cooking marathon (individual) which currently belongs to Lata Tondon (India) with a time of 87 hr 45 min.

“Hilda began cooking on Thursday and continued through to Monday, reportedly whipping up 55 recipes and more than 100 meals in a whopping 100-hour stint.

“Officials on our records team look forward to reviewing the evidence and hope to be able to verify Hilda’s efforts as a new record very soon.”
