The Osun State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Dipo Eluwole, has described the Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa (OSCO-HEALTH), as a key institution in the drive to revitalise the health technology sector in Osun and Nigeria at large.

Eluwole affirmed that the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke remains committed to supporting the institution with a view to positioning it among the top health technology training institutions in the country and beyond.

The commissioner made the remarks while receiving members of the institution’s Governing Board, led by its Chairman, Hon. Abayomi Adegoke, alongside the management team headed by the Provost, Dr. Lateef Olarewaju Raheem.

He emphasised that progressive governments around the world are making significant investments in the health technology sector, and noted that Osun State would not be left behind in this global trend.

Eluwole reiterated the state government’s commitment to the development of OSCO-HEALTH, assuring that the institution would benefit from the administration’s plan to improve road infrastructure across all state-owned tertiary institutions.

In his remarks, the Governing Board Chairman, Hon. Abayomi Adegoke, expressed strong commitment to the realisation of Governor Adeleke’s vision for the college. He pledged to prioritise staff and student welfare and hinted at ongoing efforts to change the institution’s nomenclature to better reflect its status and future aspirations.

Earlier, the Provost of the college, Dr. Lateef Olarewaju Raheem, expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Education for its continuous support over the years. He, however, appealed to the commissioner to assist in fast-tracking the upgrade of the institution to a polytechnic, which would enable it to benefit from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) — a support he said the college has long deserved.

In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Murtala Jimoh, commended the visit, noting that it would go a long way in aligning efforts toward the realisation of the college’s goals.

Other members of the delegation on the courtesy visit included board members Alhaji Isiaka Akinlabi, Chief Mrs. Serifat Adenike, and Hon. Akinjimi Sunday; the Registrar, Mr. Mushood Afolabi; the Bursar, Mr. Yinka Olaleye; the Librarian, Mrs. Kemi Ibitoye; and the Director of Works, Engr. Imran Kareem.
