ANPA, Abia Govt Launch Free Eye Screening for Cataract Patients in Umuahia

The Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA), in collaboration with the Abia State Eye Health Management Bureau, has commenced a free eye outreach programme in Umuahia aimed at identifying residents suffering from cataracts for corrective surgeries.

The initiative, which began this week, is being held at the JAAC Building in Umuahia and is scheduled to run until Friday. It is designed to provide screening services for individuals with vision impairment, particularly those affected by cataracts, with a view to offering free, sight-restoring surgical interventions.

Organisers say the outreach is part of ongoing efforts to improve access to quality eye care and reduce preventable blindness in Abia State and beyond.

Residents experiencing symptoms of cataracts, including blurred or cloudy vision, have been urged to take advantage of the programme.

Members of the public are also encouraged to inform friends, family members, and neighbours who may benefit from the free medical services.
