The saying that one must thank God in whatever situation one finds oneself because of its inevitability, was at play on Wednesday at the Pacelli School for the Blind in Surulere, when it became the latest beneficiary of a monetary donation valued at 0.7 million courtesy of the ‘’OLX Gives Back Initiative”.

Backed by On Air Personalities (OAP) American-born Dan Foster and Nigeria’s Olisa Adibua, the Initiative supports the aforementioned in donating to charities of their choice,

The deal is that Dan and Olisa who are doing quite well in their professional calling, sell items on OLX and proceeds from the sale are donated to such places. Hence the Pacelli School gesture.

Country Manager of OLX, Lola Masha said during the event which attracted many people that the company remains the number classified site in Nigeria which recognizes the importance of supporting the local communities.

”We partnered with Dan and Olisa because we appreciate their commitment to supporting the youth through their work on their work on radio.

However, beside the speeches and presentation of the cheque which was also by the school’s matron, Mrs Agnes, guests were visibly shaken and dumbfounded when the pupils, despite their challenges, held every captive with soothing musical renditions, just as some of them won tempting prizes by showing how updated they are in current affairs.

”I joined the campaign it is important for Nigerians to know that items that are no longer needed at home can be traded for cash and used for a good cause,” said Foster.

And for Adibua, ”with OLX, everyone is a winner. I was able to sell my TV and washing machine to people who bought them on the platform at a good deal and I get to support Pacelli where visually impaired children go to school…”

And to the principal of the school, Sister Jane Onyeneri, while thanking the donors, ”we rely on generous donations like these to keep the school going.’
