Osun NUP warns public against purported 2011/2012 retired public servants association

The Osun State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) has warned the public and government authorities to be wary of individuals claiming to represent the 2011/2012 Retired Public Servants Association, Osun State. The union stated that the association is not recognized under the union’s constitution and urged all stakeholders to disregard dealings with the group.

The warning was contained in a statement jointly signed by the state chairman, Alhaji Ismaila Odefisayo; the secretary, Comrade Dele Aina; and the treasurer, Mr. Timothy Ayodele, in Osogbo on Monday.

According to the union, the NUP constitution prohibits the formation of splinter groups, and any such association within the union is automatically invalid. The statement described those claiming affiliation with the 2011/2012 Retired Public Servants Association as “decadent,” noting that their credibility and pedigree cannot be trusted.

The union also criticized the group’s appearance at the recent Osun City Boys Movement program in Osogbo, describing their claim to represent pensioners’ interests as false and driven by selfish motives.

Osun NUP emphasized that all official correspondence concerning pensioners in the state should be directed to the union’s state office, located in Kolabalogun area, along the old Ikirun Road, Osogbo. The union warned that anyone engaging with the purported association does so at their own risk, as the group is not officially recognized.

The union appealed to the Osun State Government and other relevant authorities to disregard any requests from the 2011/2012 Retired Public Servants Association, stressing that the group does not operate in the interest of pensioners in the state.
