First Bank MD, Ndoma-Egba Hail Fasina’s Five-Year Stewardship at FUOYE

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Mr. Olusegun Alebiosu, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, and other dignitaries have lauded the outgoing Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Sunday Abayomi Fasina, for documenting his five-year tenure.
The commendations came during the public presentation of Prof. Fasina’s book, Holding the Rudder: My Years Steering FUOYE, which chronicles his leadership as the fourth substantive Vice-Chancellor of FUOYE from 2021 to 2026.
Mr. Alebiosu, who served as the chief launcher at the event, praised the university’s infrastructure expansion, enrolment growth, and programme development as clear indicators of progress. He noted that the scale of transformation surpassed what he had observed during an earlier visit to the university and recommended the book as a valuable reference on leadership and institutional management.
Senator Ndoma-Egba, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, also congratulated Prof. Fasina for taking the time to write the book, describing it as a practical guide for current and aspiring university leaders. He noted that the incoming Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joshua Ogunwole, would benefit greatly from its insights.
“FUOYE is a university, but in many ways, it is a school of its own. The management lessons you gain in Oye-Ekiti are unique and cannot be learnt elsewhere. I have not been here long, yet I am already writing a book. Imagine a man who has steered the university for five years—his experiences are invaluable,” Senator Ndoma-Egba said.
Also speaking at the event, Professor Abdul-Hameed Sulaimon, representing the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, described Prof. Fasina as a longstanding friend of the University of Lagos and commended him for documenting his leadership journey to guide future university administrators.
On behalf of alumni, the President of the FUOYE Alumni Association, Mr. Taye Ojo, hailed Prof. Fasina as “the architect of the new FUOYE,” highlighting the significant institutional transformation achieved during his tenure.
Responding on behalf of the FUOYE community, Professor Mojisola Oyarekua, in her goodwill message, described the outgoing Vice-Chancellor as “a supersonic vice-chancellor” whose administration had delivered remarkable progress.
