RCCG dismisses claims of political bias, says Adeboye has remained apolitical

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has denied allegations that its General Overseer, Enoch Adeboye, has been involved in partisan political campaigning or shown support for any government in power.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its Public Relations unit, the church insisted that Pastor Adeboye has consistently maintained a neutral stance on political matters, stressing that his public guidance has focused on civic responsibility rather than party affiliation.
According to the statement, the cleric has repeatedly encouraged members of the congregation to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in elections by voting for candidates of their choice, without endorsing any political party or political officeholder.
The church also refuted reports suggesting that Adeboye cancelled a planned protest, clarifying that he only conveyed an instruction from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) regarding adjustments to a scheduled three-day prayer programme and rally.
It explained that the PFN directive involved the centralisation of the programme’s grand finale at a designated venue, where a rally was to be held in line with arrangements communicated to member churches nationwide.
RCCG further rejected claims that its leader has remained silent on pressing national issues, saying Adeboye has consistently spoken on matters such as insecurity, corruption, economic hardship, elections and governance, often through spiritual counsel, prayer, and moral guidance rather than political confrontation.
“Pastor E.A. Adeboye and the RCCG will not be defined by false narratives, and the Church will not remain silent while misinformation is circulated as fact,” the statement said.
The church urged journalists, bloggers and members of the public to verify any information concerning Adeboye or RCCG through official communication channels before publication.
It added that any statement not issued or confirmed through recognised RCCG platforms should not be considered an official position of the Church.
