Osun 2026: Monarchs endorse Adeleke for second term

By Sunday Oguntuyi, Osogbo
The re-election bid of Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, received a boost on Monday as the Alapomu of Apomuland, Oba Kayode Afolabi, and the Olukoyi of Ikoyi, Oba Taofeek Morenigbade, publicly endorsed his second-term ambition during the Imole Campaign rally in Isokan Local Government Area.
Governor Adeleke was received by a large crowd of supporters who lined the streets and gathered at the palaces of the two monarchs, signalling what campaign organisers described as sustained support for the governor in the constituency.
Welcoming the governor and members of the Imole Campaign Council, Oba Afolabi and Oba Morenigbade offered prayers for Adeleke, wishing him success in the August 15 governorship election and commending his administration’s developmental efforts across the state.
The monarchs expressed confidence that the governor’s performance would earn him another mandate at the polls.
The endorsement is considered politically significant, as Apomu and Ikoyi are part of a constituency where Adeleke has consistently recorded electoral victories, including the 2018 governorship election and the 2023 general election.
Addressing residents during the visit, Adeleke thanked the traditional rulers and the people of Apomu and Ikoyi for their continued support, assuring them that his administration would remain committed to delivering people-centred projects and inclusive governance.
He said his government would continue to prioritise infrastructure development, education, healthcare, economic empowerment and equitable distribution of democratic dividends across the state.
The governor also urged residents to participate peacefully in the August 15 governorship election and vote in support of his administration.
Adeleke was accompanied by the Chairman of the Imole Campaign Council, Prof. Wale Oladipo; the General Chairman of the Accord Party in Osun State, Hon. Sunday Bisi; the state chairman of the party, Pastor Victor Akande; Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the campaign council, Hon. Bamidele Salam, as well as other party leaders, government officials and supporters.
