2027: APC united and battle-ready to reclaim Oyo, says Folarin

Former Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State is now united and prepared to take over the Government House, Agodi, in 2027.

Folarin, who was the APC governorship candidate in the 2023 election, spoke with journalists at the venue of the party’s State Congress in Ibadan.

He described the peaceful conduct of the congress – marked by music and celebration and devoid of violence, unlike in some other states – as evidence that the party has resolved its internal differences.

“We are now strongly together, and what we are working towards is to take over the Government House, Agodi, Oyo State,” he said.

The former lawmaker also pledged the party’s commitment to the success of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that the APC would work to increase the President’s votes in Oyo State by 100 per cent in the next election.

Folarin disclosed that prior to the congress, party leaders met and agreed on the modalities for the exercise, which he said contributed to its smooth outcome.

“I thank the Almighty God for the way everything went. I also appreciate the leaders of the party, especially members of the congress committee, whose efforts guaranteed the success we achieved today,” he added.

He commended President Tinubu and Mrs Florence Ajimobi, wife of the late former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, for their roles in fostering unity and stability within the APC in the state.

When asked whether he would contest the governorship again in 2027, Folarin declined to give a direct answer.

“I can’t comment on that now. When we get to the bridge, we shall cross it,” he said.

He, however, urged party leaders and members to sustain the current unity in order to secure victory in the forthcoming elections.

In a related development, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Hon. Wasiu Olawale Sadare, confirmed that members of the new state executive emerged through consensus.

Sadare described the outcome of the congress as proof that the APC in Oyo State has returned to “peace, harmony and tranquillity,” expressing optimism that the party would record sweeping victories in the 2027 elections.

He thanked party leaders, members and supporters for their cooperation and commitment to democratic principles throughout the process.
