Biodun Adedipe
. Insists reforms beginning to lay foundation for prosperity
By AYOOLA OLAOLUWA
Renowned economist and development strategist, Prof. Biodun Adedipe, has said that Nigerians will start reaping the benefits of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms when the government succeeds in breaking the back of inflation, especially food inflation.
Adedipe made this prediction during Business Hallmark Newspaper’s virtual policy dialogue with the theme: Nigeria Midway Through Reform: Are We Seeing Progress or Just Enduring Pain?” held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
Speaking as the Lead Discussant at the high-level policy dialogue on the state of Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms, Adedipe, who’s the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of B. Adedipe Associates Limited, said recent reforms have begun to address deep-rooted structural weaknesses that constrained economic growth for decades.
According to him, measures such as the removal of fuel subsidies, exchange-rate reforms and efforts to improve fiscal discipline have created the basis for a more efficient and competitive economy.
While admitting that the reforms have imposed significant short-term costs on households and businesses, he argued that they were necessary interventions to restore macroeconomic stability and place the economy on a sustainable growth path.
