'Only shanties were set on fire,' Police react to Alaba market fire

Police in Lagos State has explained that a fire incident that occurred at Alaba market in the Ojo area of the state on Friday, was caused by its officers who set shanties on fire.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos police spokesman who provided the information via his Twitter handle on Friday, noted that fire did not gut the market as widely reported.

The police spokesman who was reacting to a news report about the fire, noted that the affected shanties were burnt down after criminals were apprehended there, and weapons recovered.
