Ejike Ndiulo joins Covenant University faculty

Corporate leaders, media professionals and public relations practitioners across West Africa have congratulated communications strategist and marketing expert, Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, on his appointment to the faculty of Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State.

The appointment marks a transition from a distinguished corporate communications and marketing career into academia for Ndiulo, who recently earned a PhD in Strategic Marketing Management from Babcock University.

Industry stakeholders described the development as a boost for higher education, noting that his extensive experience in corporate communications, marketing strategy and stakeholder engagement would enrich teaching and research at the university.

Dr. Ndiulo has built a career spanning more than two decades across journalism, banking, aviation, public relations and corporate consulting. He most recently served as Chief Thinker at Henryjvaleens Limited, a public relations, marketing and corporate consulting firm, where he advised organisations on brand positioning, market penetration and business growth strategies.

Prior to that role, he was Head of Corporate Communications at Air Peace Limited, where he led brand campaigns and corporate reputation management initiatives. He also spent about a decade at Fidelity Bank Plc, overseeing corporate communications and managing major marketing programmes.

Throughout his career, Ndiulo has consistently advocated the integration of communication professionals into strategic decision-making processes within organisations. He has argued that public relations should be positioned as a core management function rather than a reactive tool for crisis management.

A professional colleague, while congratulating him on the appointment, described Ndiulo as one of the industry’s leading advocates for strategic communications.

“For years, Ejike has been a leading voice in our industry, challenging the perception of public relations as an afterthought. He has consistently demonstrated that communication professionals add the greatest value when they are involved in decision-making at the highest level,” the colleague said.

Before rising to senior management positions, Ndiulo worked as a Business Development Representative for the BBC World Service and later served as Special Projects Manager for the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce (DIHK).

He also had a successful journalism career, serving as Senior Financial Correspondent at ThisDay Newspapers, where he won the Insurance Reporter of the Year award and emerged runner-up in the Financial Reporter of the Year category at the Nigeria Media Merit Awards.

Ndiulo is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (formerly APCON), and the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN).

Stakeholders expressed confidence that his combination of academic credentials and practical industry experience would make a significant contribution to teaching, research and mentorship at Covenant University.

A senior media executive described the appointment as a positive development for both the university and the communications profession.

“Covenant University is gaining a seasoned professional with extensive boardroom and industry experience. His blend of academic scholarship and practical expertise will be valuable in preparing future business and communication leaders,” the executive said.
