Ogun to launch new communication equipment for forestry officers

Ogun State Government says it is set to introduce the use of modern and reliable communications tools like Walkie-Talkie for effective monitoring of forestry officers in the State Forestry Reserves.
Commissioner for Forestry, Engr. Taiwo Oludotun dropped the hint at the Statutory Monthly Meeting in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, stressing that the step would enable Management at the headquarters to have firsthand knowledge of activities of field officers and as well serves as alternative to bad network often complained by officers in faraway locations.
He advised the officers to take their jobs seriously by curbing unwholesome activities such as illegal free felling, cutting of filches, planting of Cocoa and other forbidden crops in the forest and to be alive to their responsibilities.
He also warned that the present administration would not condone any act of indiscipline among its officers, advising them to scale-up their revenue and remit same to the appropriate quarters as at when due.
” Let me advise you that you are doing yourself a great disservice by colliding with criminals to perpetrate illegal activities in the forest. If those trees you are employed to protect go into extinction, that may end your career in the civil service and you know the consequence.
Therefore, you need to work assiduously to ensure sanity in all ramifications in your areas of jurisdiction,” he said.
Speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Augustine Oyesanwe, informed officers on modalities of submitting their reports and seamless remittance of revenue to relevant officials and authorities, enjoining them to redouble their efforts, promising that those that were hardworking would be adequately rewarded and the lazy ones would be sanctioned accordingly.
