Ogun govt moves to end child morbidity with zero-dose immunisation 

The Ogun State Government has launched a collaborative effort with relevant stakeholders in the health sector to ensure the completion of routine immunisation against child morbidity. 

Addressing  the stakeholders at the sensitisation meeting, the Executive Secretary of the Ogun State Primary Health Care Development Board, Dr. Elijah Ogunsola, emphasised the need for mobilisation and sensitisation across state, saying that the initiative was aimed towards achieving zero-dose immunisation among children through awareness and mobilisation support for the eradication of vaccination gap in the state.

Ogunsola noted that many mothers underestimated the importance of immunisation, highlighting the need for community engagement.

He added that the sensitisation programme, which commenced last year, had entered its second phase towards strengthening community health and primary healthcare systems statewide.

“The stakeholders’ meeting marks a crucial step towards achieving the state’s goal of reducing morbidity among children. With the collective commitment of stakeholders, Ogun State is poised to make significant progress in its fight against child morbidity,” he said.

Responding on behalf of the stakeholders, the representative of Family Health Initiatives, Civil Society Organisation, Mrs. Oluwakemi Balogun, commended the present administration’s commitment and determination in creating a safer and healthier environment, pledging to diligently carry out the assignment of reducing child morbidity and mortality .
