JAMB releases mop-up UTME schedule for Saturday, 28th June

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has approved Saturday, 28th June 2025 for the conduct of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mop-up exercise.

According to a statement released by JAMB spokesperson, the mop-up examination will accommodate 5,096 spillover candidates and those who were unable to complete biometric verification during the main exercise.

Additionally, due to a special dispensation granted to absentee candidates of both the 2025 main and resit examinations, 91,742 candidates who missed either or both sittings will also be given the opportunity to participate in the mop-up exam — a one-time arrangement valid only for the 2025 admission year. In total, 96,838 candidates have been scheduled for the mop-up exercise across 183 centres nationwide, while others remain on standby.

Commenting on centres involved in malpractice, JAMB stated that in addition to those already delisted for technical deficiencies during the mock, main, and resit UTME, many more computer-based test (CBT) centres implicated in ongoing security investigations are being suspended. Centres found culpable will be delisted and recommended for prosecution.

So far, 113 CBT centres across the country have been delisted or suspended, with several implicated in multiple infractions during both the main and resit examinations.

The board commended the synergy between it and various security agencies in exposing malpractice rings and system sabotage. It particularly praised the State Security Service (SSS), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for their dedication and tenacity in the ongoing nationwide investigation into identity theft and examination malpractice syndicates.

This collaboration has led to the arrest and prosecution of dozens of individuals, including a few JAMB officials, professional examination takers, and syndicates involving school proprietors and tutorial centre operators.

The JAMB spokesperson added that special squads of invigilators and security personnel are being deployed as part of the renewed crackdown on examination malpractice — a campaign spearheaded by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON.

Eligible and genuine candidates are advised to print their examination notification slips from Monday, 23rd June 2025, ahead of the mop-up examination scheduled for Saturday, 28th June. The first session on the examination day will commence at 8:00 a.m. as usual.
