Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari has said his government has uncovered those sponsoring separatist agitations around the country, including a National Assembly member, threatening to deal with them.

The President who specifically mentioned leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu and Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, alias Sunday Igboho, said separatist leaders run abroad, leaving young people in the country to fight self-destructive wars.

The president who stated this in his nationwide broadcast to mark Nigeria’s 61st Independence Day anniversary on Friday in Abuja, warned that his regime would take decisive actions against the agitators and their sponsors who threaten national security.

“The recent arrests of Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Adeyemo and the ongoing investigations being conducted have revealed certain high profile financiers behind these individuals. We are vigorously pursuing these financiers, including one identified as a serving member of the National Assembly,” he said.

“This is a clear example of how people abandon their national leadership positions for their selfish gains.

“Instead of preaching unity, they are funding and misleading our youth to conduct criminal acts that sometimes lead to unfortunate and unnecessary loss of lives and property.

“As the so-called leaders run abroad to hide, our innocent youths are misled and left in the streets to fight for their senseless and destructive causes.”

The president noted that his government would continue, with greater level of peoples’ participation and in collaboration with international partners, to improve the security architecture of the country.

He said the federal government would also reduce the enabling environment that allowed criminality to thrive and eliminate opportunities for terrorism financing in the country.

  1. Buhari in his speech is a clear example of how people abandon their national eadership positions to pursue their selfish gains.
He said Nigeria’s unity is nonnegotiable and his govt has identified a national assembly lawmaker who is sponsoring IPOB to break Nigeria, and that investigations into that are ongoing and that his govt will decisively deal with d lawmaker.
About indivisibility of Nigeria, if Nigeria is indivisible, then clearly Nigeria is dead because Nigeria we know has a beginning and anything that has a beginning necessarily has an ending, otherwise the thing is dead already to be indivisible.
As for d lawmaker d executive arm alleged is sponsoring secession or breakup of nigeria, which Mr Buhari confirmed that his govt will arrest and throw in prison or kill, I have d following to say: For those who are vocal against IPOB or who advise IPOB to participate in active Nigerian politics, win elections and get into national assembly to change or secede from Nigeria, Buhari has confirmed that that method will never work in nigeria, because d elected honorable lawmaker will be “killed” by d executive arm upon arrival. So d current method adopted by d secessionists or agitators is d best workable in nigeria or any third world countries who are chief abusers of human right if self a determination as enshrined in d United Nations charter.
