World Sickle Cell Day: Foundation holds free screening of “Dazzling Mirage”

As part of activities to mark this year’s World Sickle Cell Day, the Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria, in collaboration with Channels TV, Silverbird Group and Mainframe Productions, will hold free screening of the movie, “Dazzling Mirage” to raise awareness and educate people about sickle cell disorder.
Dazzling Mirage, a 2014 drama film produced and directed by Tunde Kelani, is an adaptation of a novel of the same name by Olayinka Abimbola Egbokhare, is the story of a young lady with sickle cell disorder and her challenges; medical, social and emotional and how she copes with them.
In Lagos, the screening which will have sickle cell experts and dignitaries in attendance will hold at 2pm on Thursday 25th June, 2015, at two venues; the Silverbird Cinemas, 133 Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos and National Sickle Cell Centre, Ishaga Rd (Opposite LUTH), Idi-Araba. The screening at both venues are sponsored by Silverbird Group and Channels, respectively.
The Abuja leg of the screening will hold on Sunday 28th June 2015at the Silverbird Cinemas, Plot 1161, Memorial Drive by Musa Yar’Adua Center, Central Business District, at 2.00 pm.
According to the National Coordinator of the foundation, Ebenezer Adeleye, Nigerians need to know more about sickle cell because, “Nigeria is the country with the highest number of people with the condition in the world.”
