Osun’ll be safe for all if I’m elected governor, Oyebamiji assures Muslim community

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has pledged to make the state safe for businesses to thrive and for residents to prosper if elected governor.

Oyebamiji gave the assurance on Sunday during an interactive session with the Osun State Muslim Community (OSMC) at its secretariat in Osogbo.

He said the founding fathers of Osun State envisioned a united state focused on the common good and never intended for divisions along religious lines.

The APC candidate disclosed that his team had already identified key sectors requiring urgent intervention, including education, healthcare, power generation and agriculture, adding that workers’ welfare would also receive priority under his administration.

“My decision to contest for the governorship seat was deliberate and intentional. As I have said on several occasions, we have assembled a team to review the critical sectors with a view to making immediate interventions, especially in power generation, education, healthcare delivery and agriculture, to drive economic growth in the state.

“Unlike the present administration, we will be fair, just and ensure equitable distribution of resources across all towns and communities in the state,” he said.

Oyebamiji also reaffirmed his Islamic faith, describing himself as a committed Muslim, and expressed confidence of victory in the August 15 governorship election.

“I am a bona fide Muslim who has remained steadfast in my faith, and I am confident that, by the grace of Allah, I will emerge victorious on August 15, 2026,” he said.

He further pledged to promote peace before, during and after the election, assuring the people that he would do everything within his power to ensure a free, fair and credible electoral process.

Earlier, President of the Osun State Muslim Community, Alhaji Mustapha Olawuyi, welcomed Oyebamiji and his delegation, describing him as a committed Muslim who has consistently supported the growth of Islam and the welfare of humanity.

“You have been part of us from the beginning. We know you as a good Muslim whose immense contributions to the propagation of Islam, the Muslim Ummah and humanity cannot be overemphasised,” Olawuyi said.

He stressed that the OSMC remained non-partisan but would continue to engage all political actors in the interest of justice and good governance.

“We have received AMBO and presented some of our requests, particularly the need for any incoming government to prioritise equity and justice in the distribution of resources, as well as the recognition of Islamic law by the government, among other issues,” he added.
