The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), has reaffirmed its commitment to youth leadership development and stronger collaboration between academia and industry through an Executive Industry Immersion Challenge programme organised in partnership with Nile University of Nigeria.

The four-day programme, held at the NDIC headquarters in Abuja, brought together students of the university’s Executive MBA programme for practical exposure to corporate governance, policy formulation and public sector management.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NDIC, Mr. Thompson Oludare Sunday, described the initiative as a strategic response to the growing disconnect between academic learning and the realities of the business environment.NDIC, Nile University partner on leadership immersion programme for business students

According to him, the evolving global workplace requires professionals equipped with both theoretical knowledge and practical industry experience.

“The Executive Industry Immersion Challenge has provided the NDIC with the opportunity of a practical platform to expose participants to real-world experience in policy formulation, institutional governance and public sector management,” he said.

The NDIC boss reiterated the corporation’s commitment to promoting financial system stability and strengthening depositor confidence in Nigeria’s banking system.

He urged participants to embrace the values of integrity, transparency, ethical conduct and good governance, stressing that institutions can only earn public trust when they consistently uphold those principles.

Also speaking, the programme coordinator for the NDIC and Director of Research, Policy and International Relations Department, Mr. Ibrahim Aliyu, said the initiative was deliberately designed as an experiential learning platform aimed at bridging the gap between classroom theory and industry practice.
