Oyintiloye decries a worsening power supply, demands Tinubu’s intervention

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious in the August 8 governorship election in the state.

Oyintiloye attributed the party’s optimism to what he described as the achievements of President Bola Tinubu, as well as the performance of APC governors across the country and the record of the party’s previous administration in Osun.

Speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, the former lawmaker said the administration of President Tinubu had strengthened the APC’s appeal nationwide and made it more attractive to politicians in other parties.

According to him, the recent defection of five federal lawmakers from Osun — elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties — to the APC further underscores the party’s growing popularity ahead of the governorship poll.

“The defection of the five PDP National Assembly lawmakers and the endorsement of the President for a second term in office are indications that the people of this state love the APC and are ready to return it to office in the August 8 governorship election,” Oyintiloye said.

He added that residents of the state were eager for what he described as a return to good governance under the APC.

“The people of the state are yearning for the return of good governance through the APC, and by August 8, their wishes will be fulfilled,” he stated.

Oyintiloye also expressed confidence in the party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, describing him as capable and dependable.

“The party’s candidate, Oyebamiji, is competent, reliable and a promise keeper. He will fulfil all his electoral promises for the good of the people. We are confident of winning,” he said.

He further commended the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, who he described as the leader of the APC in Osun State, for sustaining the party’s structure and influence despite being out of power at the state level.

According to Oyintiloye, Oyetola has been working closely with other party leaders and stakeholders to maintain unity within the APC and strengthen its grassroots presence.

He said the minister, in collaboration with other stakeholders, had developed a framework to welcome new members into the party without alienating existing ones, thereby making the APC an attractive destination for politicians from opposition parties.

Oyintiloye urged residents of the state not to be swayed by what he termed a campaign of calumny by rival political parties.

“Residents of the state should ignore the campaign of calumny targeted at the APC by other parties in the race,” he said.

He maintained that rather than engaging in blame games, Oyebamiji and other party leaders were focused on providing solutions to the state’s challenges.

“Rather than engaging in buck-passing with anyone, Oyebamiji and other leaders of our party are working hard to rescue Osun and redirect the state to the path of sustainable growth,” he added.

The APC chieftain also encouraged members of opposition parties who are considering joining the APC to take inspiration from the five National Assembly members who recently defected.

He declared that the APC remains open to new members and possesses what he described as a culture of excellence and the capacity to accommodate those willing to work for the public good.
