Another four years of Otti will place Abia on path of irreversible growth – Sen. Nwaka

By Peter Okore, Umuahia
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, Senator Emma Nwaka, has endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term, saying another four years of the governor’s administration would place the state on a trajectory of irreversible economic growth and development.
Nwaka made the declaration after paying a courtesy visit to Governor Otti at the Government House, Umuahia.
The former Third Republic Senator, who represented Abia North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, said the Otti administration has demonstrated uncommon commitment to infrastructural development, prudent management of resources, and the execution of people-oriented projects that have positively impacted the lives of Abians.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Nwaka, who reaffirmed his membership of the APC, stated that Governor Otti has performed exceptionally well in Abia State and particularly in his home local government area of Isuikwuato, surpassing the achievements of previous administrations.
Reading from a prepared statement titled “This Is My Stand,” the APC stalwart said his position was based on an objective assessment of the governor’s performance and the visible transformation taking place across the state.
“I am fully in support of Dr. Alex Otti serving a second term of four years as Governor of Abia State. By every political metric conceivable, his first term has ushered in a season of unprecedented infrastructural development across every part of the state. More importantly, Abians at home and in the diaspora have regained a sense of pride in their state,” he said.
“I believe that another four years of Dr. Alex Otti as governor would firmly establish Abia State on a trajectory of irreversible economic growth and development. I therefore urge members of my party who may be displeased with my position to appreciate the basis of my conviction.”
Nwaka further emphasized that Otti’s administration has brought significant development to Isuikwuato Local Government Area.
“As a son of Isuikwuato, I can confidently say that Dr. Otti’s administration has done more for our local government than any previous government since the creation of Abia State, both in terms of infrastructure and appointments. If, as they say, all politics is local, then I see no reason why the people of Isuikwuato should reject a government that has remembered them at this critical time.
“This is not the time for politics of identity; it is the time for pragmatism and support for vision, competence, capability, and capacity—qualities that Dr. Alex Otti has consistently demonstrated. His transformational leadership in Abia State is unassailable,” he added.
The APC chieftain also disclosed his political position ahead of future elections, noting that while he would support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election at the federal level, he would equally work for Governor Otti’s re-election in Abia State.
“At the federal level, I am working for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while supporting Dr. Alex Otti for a second term as governor of Abia State,” Nwaka stated.
According to him, President Tinubu deserves another term in office in view of the challenges he inherited and the reforms he has initiated.
“Anyone familiar with the near-comatose state of Nigeria’s economy and the inertia that characterized governance before President Tinubu assumed office will agree that he deserves a second term. If for nothing else, he has infused renewed hope into governance and embarked on bold economic reforms. I believe that, before long, the benefits of these reforms will begin to trickle down and be felt by the majority of Nigerians,” he said.
Nwaka thanked Abians for their continued support for Governor Otti and pledged to work actively for his re-election.
