Abiodun eulogises late wife of labour leader, Comrade Lasisi, for imparting lives

Governor Dapo Abiodun has eulogised the late wife of the Chairman, Trade Union Congress (TUC), Ogun State, Chief (Mrs.) Omodunni Lasisi, describing her as a virtuous woman who positively impacted many lives.
The governor gave this tribute during the 8th Day Fidau prayers organised in her honour at the Abeokuta North Local Government Secretariat, Akomoje, Abeokuta. He noted that the deceased was widely respected and dedicated her energy and resources to the service of God.
Represented by the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, Governor Abiodun highlighted that her accomplishments as a successful businesswoman earned her the chieftaincy title of Iyaloja of Isale-Igbein, underscoring her respected status in the community.
He urged the bereaved husband, Comrade Akeem Lasisi, to take solace in the legacy of a life well spent, encouraging him to stay strong for the children she left behind.
“There’s no gainsaying the fact that the death of a loved one, especially a soulmate, is a painful and heartrending experience — truly a test of faith like no other. But as believers, we must find courage and give thanks for a life well lived,” the governor stated.
“Chief was a distinguished woman, much respected and admired — a true role model for womanhood and humanity,” he added.
In his sermon, Islamic cleric Sheikh Dr. Taofiq Amolegbe reminded the congregation of the inevitability of death, urging everyone to live with purpose, as only God gives and takes life without warning.
While consoling the grieving family, Amolegbe acknowledged that the deceased had served Allah faithfully, using her life and resources for good. He charged the living to emulate her worthy example.
In his response, the widower, Comrade Akeem Lasisi, described his late wife as a kind, respectful, cool-headed, and supportive woman. He prayed that God would protect their children and grant his wife eternal peace, saying, “We cannot question God for taking what He gave.”
He also expressed deep appreciation to Governor Abiodun for both moral and financial support, and thanked top government officials, workers, and labour leaders for standing by him during the difficult time.
The couple’s children, Taiwo and Kehinde Lasisi, described their mother as an amazing, loving, and selfless woman who always put others first. They noted that the beautiful memories she left behind would be deeply cherished.
Also speaking, Comrade Omolara Sansa, immediate past National Secretary of the TUC Women Commission, and Comrade Oluwaseun Agbesanwa, Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), described Chief (Mrs.) Omodunni Lasisi as humility personified — a generous soul who always sought the comfort of others. They prayed that God would give her family the strength to bear the irreplaceable loss.
