Timipre Sylva, former governor of Bayelsa State, has resigned from his position as the minister of state for petroleum resources.

Sylva resigned to participate in the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship primaries in Bayelsa next month.

Bashir Ahmad, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Assistant on Digital Communications, confirmed his resignation in a tweet on Friday.

“Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, and former Bayelsa state governor, H.E. Timipre Sylva, has resigned his appointment to contest in the next Bayelsa governorship election,” he tweeted.
