Polygamy is never a sin in eye of God -Anglican priest

Adebayo Obajemu

Shocking to most Christians, an Anglican priest of the Nnewi Diocese in Anambra State, Rev. Ogbuchukwu Lotanna, has openly propagated polygamy saying that God has instructed him to float a movement to promote it.

The controversial priest stated that polygamy is not a sin.

Underlining the seriousness of his conversion to polygamy, the priest has resigned his position as a priest of the church to form a polygamous movement known as “Gideonites”.

Lotanna, a lawyer, from Mbanagu Otolo Nnewi, disclosed in his resignation letter to the Anglican Church that he received a divine mandate to float a movement in support of polygamy.

According to him, his “Gideonites” was primarily targeted at curbing the rate of polygamy and sexual promiscuity in the society. He also said the place of worship would be called “Gideonites Temple.”
He pointed out that polygamy is not a sin, contrary to what is generally being preached.
According to him, what God hates is divorce of any type, and sleeping with another man’s wife.

He insisted that God desired men to even marry more than one wife, instead of going for someone’s wife or ladies they were not married to.
He said he has taken his time to discover the truth which the church has been hidding from members for a long time, adding that it was high time people were told the truth.
This development has generated a lots of criticism from his colleagues who were amazed at Lotanna’s new belief.

Lotanna was ordained an Anglican priest on December 22, 2019, at Cathedral Church of St. Mary’s Uruagu, Nnewi, and is married to Chinyere Abigail, who hails from Umuogbu village Achara in Awka North of Anambra State.

There has been no official reaction yet from the Anglican Diocese of Nnewi about the development, as the diocese is busy with the activities of its 2022 synod.
But many Christians spoken to by Business Hallmark said the priest is another manifestation of heresy, and that such development is not new to Christianity.
Pastor Oludele Samson Akinpelu of Freedom Living Church, said ” that man who calls himself priest is a renegade, he is out to lead many astray and confuse the body of Christ.
