Senate to review healthcare laws

President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, on Thursday assured Nigerians of the 8th Senate’s readiness to review healthcare laws to promote better health care in the country.
He gave the assurance when members of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) visited him in his office in Abuja.
Saraki, who said that healthcare system in the country was yet to meet the yearnings of Nigerians, also promised to ensure improvement in the health sector.
Earlier, NMA president, Dr Kayode Obembe, called for the establishment of a Legislative Desk on health and Medical Service Commission to improve the healthcare system in the country.
He also appealed for review of the healthcare law, especially in budgeting for National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), and Primary Healthcare programme.
Obembe also called for improved healthcare salary structure for medical personnel across the country. (NAN)
