Rapper Jay-Z responds to allegation of sexual assault

US rapper and businessman Shawn Carter, popularly known as Jay-Z, has responded after being named in a lawsuit by a woman who says she was sexually assaulted by him and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

Identified as a Jane Doe, the alleged victim initially filed the lawsuit against Diddy in October but on Sunday, she added Jay-Z as a defendant.

Diddy is being detained after his indictment on sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and prostitution-related charges.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges, denying all wrongdoing in roughly 30 civil lawsuits filed against him.

According to the lady, she was 13 years old when she was sexually assaulted by Diddy and Jay-Z at an after-party following the Video Music Awards in 2000.

She alleged that after consuming a drink at the party, she felt woozy and went into a nearby bathroom. The woman says she was raped by Jay-Z first and then Diddy proceeded to do the same to her.

In the amended lawsuit, she stated that she hit Diddy and ran out of the party. Her attorneys have reached out to Jay-Z’s attorneys for  “a mediation to resolve this matter.”

Jay-Z responds to allegations

Reacting in a statement, Jay-Z called the allegations “so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whoever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?”

He shared that his only heartbreak is for his family, saying: “My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people.

“I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age.”
