By Popoola Jamiu, Abeokuta

The Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining collaboration with the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) and other teaching and non-teaching unions in the state, as stakeholders continue to push for improved education, security and healthcare delivery across Ogun communities.

Chairman of TESCOM, Apostle ‘Biodun Sanyaolu, gave the assurance during the State Executive Council meeting of ANCOPSS held at Owode Egba Grammar School, Owode.

Sanyaolu said the cordial relationship between the commission and education unions remained critical to achieving the government’s objective of improving the quality of education and ensuring efficient service delivery in public secondary schools across the state.

He attributed recent achievements recorded by TESCOM under the current board, including digital transformation, strategic human resource management and comprehensive staff verification exercises, to the support and cooperation of the unions.

The TESCOM chairman also charged school principals to demonstrate exemplary leadership through punctuality, dedication, hard work and professionalism.

“I commend the Ogun State ANCOPSS for its consistent efforts in strengthening leadership, fostering professionalism, collaboration and advancing the standards of public secondary schools in the state,” he said.

Responding, the Ogun State ANCOPSS President, Mr. Alaba Olugbewesa, praised TESCOM for what he described as innovative leadership and policies that had transformed the operations of the commission. He added that the meeting offered members the opportunity to deliberate on issues affecting the growth and development of the association across the state’s four divisions.

Meanwhile, the Olota of Ota, Adeyemi Obalanlege, has commended the commissioning of the newly completed Sango Area Command and a 40-bed Primary Health Centre in Ota, describing the projects as a major milestone in the development of the town and neighbouring communities.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the monarch said the projects would significantly improve security and healthcare delivery in the ancient town and its environs.

According to the royal father, the primary health centre would be named after the former Olota of Ota, Oba Timothy Oloyode Fadina, in recognition of his peaceful reign and contributions to the development of the community.

Obalanlege also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and other stakeholders involved in facilitating the projects.

He particularly commended the office of the Senior Special Assistant on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), noting that the intervention reflected effective use of public office for community development.

The monarch further described the transformation of the former security post into a modern Area Command headquarters as symbolic of progress in the town’s security architecture.

Representing the Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police Bolanle Mustapha commended the collaborative efforts that led to the completion of the security facility, saying the new Area Command would strengthen policing and improve security operations within the Sango-Ota axis.

The event attracted traditional rulers, government officials, security personnel, captains of industry, community leaders and residents who gathered to witness the commissioning of the projects.
