Abia anniversary: Otti charges MDAs to address lapses, reviews sectoral performance

Following last week’s ruling of the Federal High Court in Abuja on the Labour Party (LP), Abia State Governor Dr Alex Otti has reaffirmed his commitment to the party and to continuing to play constructive roles that will deepen democracy and promote peace and order in Nigeria.

Governor Otti made the declaration in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma, in which he congratulated the National Caretaker Committee of the Labour Party over the judgment.

The governor said the ruling affirmed the leadership of the party under Senator Nenadi Usman as Chairman, with Darlington Nwokocha serving as Secretary.

In the statement made available to journalists in Umuahia, Governor Otti congratulated Senator Usman, Mr Nwokocha and other members of the Caretaker Committee, as well as the entire LP membership, describing the judgment as heart-warming and timely.

According to him, the court victory provides a fresh opportunity to restore order, peace and unity within the party.

“This victory is both heart-warming and timely, as it offers us the opportunity to ensure that peace, order and unity return to the party,” Otti said.

He assured party members of efforts to reorganise and rejuvenate the Labour Party, noting that the goal was to build a truly democratic platform that would meet the expectations of its members and emerge as a formidable force capable of winning elections and delivering good governance at all levels.

The governor urged the new leadership to view the court ruling as a chance to reposition the party for purposeful, inclusive and justice-driven leadership.

He further enjoined individuals behind the litigations against the party to sheathe their swords and respect the judgment of the Federal High Court in the interest of unity and progress.
