Lagos to host launch of Chapters of  Destiny, Tola Adeniyi’s autobiography March 3

Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital will on March 3, 2026, host a high-profile gathering of dignitaries and prominent citizens for the public presentation of Tola Adeniyi: Chapters of Destiny, the autobiography of veteran journalist and public servant, Tola Adeniyi.

The event, billed to hold in Ikeja’s Central District, is expected to draw first-class traditional rulers, serving and former governors and deputy governors, lawmakers, academics, senior civil servants, business leaders, media executives and members of the public.

According to organisers, Chapters of Destiny offers a candid and deeply personal account of Adeniyi’s life and career, chronicling decades of engagement in journalism, public service, the arts and intellectual discourse.

Widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most outspoken and influential media voices, Adeniyi has spent 67 years in mass communication, with experience spanning radio and television broadcasting, poetry, playwriting, production and directing, as well as the adaptation of classical works for stage and screen.

He began his career as a stage actor during his school years and later rose to hold executive positions in leading media organisations in Nigeria and abroad. Notably, he served as Managing Director of the Daily Times of Nigeria, a role that capped a journalism career organisers describe as defined by courage and creativity.

Beyond journalism, Adeniyi served two terms as Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (Oyo State Chapter) and retired as a Federal Permanent Secretary in the Presidency. He also lectured as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Lancaster in the United Kingdom before relocating to Canada in 1996.

Both urbane and rustic, international yet proudly village-bred, Chief Adeniyi embodies a rare blend of cosmopolitan exposure and cultural authenticity. His autobiography reflects this duality, offering insights into Nigeria’s political, media and cultural evolution through the lens of personal experience.
