Kidnapped Kogi High Court judge regains freedom

Kidnapped Kogi State High Court judge, Justice Samuel Obayomi, has regained his freedom after 34 days in captivity.

Kogi State Police Commissioner, Samuel Ogunjemilusi, told journalists yesterday in Lokoja that Justice Obayomi who was kidnapped last month was released about 11.30p.m on Saturday.

Though the police commissioner disclosed that the freed judge had been taken to a safe place, details on his release was yet to be revealed.

Also the question of whether the N150 million ransom was paid remains unknown.

Anxious family members, colleagues, friends, associates and subordinates will have to wait patiently for a while as police promised to release him to his family soon.

The Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Nasiru Ajana, who also confirmed the release of Justice Obayomi to newsmen, thanked God for his mercy and prayed for his protection against evil men.

It would be recalled that the entire state was stunned when news went round on Monday, May 25 that kidnappers abducted the State High Court Judge in Adavi Local Government Area of the state.

In another development, the Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Mr Wilson Inalegwu, has charged personnel of the command to desist from acts that could dent the image of the police.

A statement issued by the spokesman of the command, ASP Anjuguri Manzah, on Sunday, said Inalegwu gave the charge at a meeting he held with Heads of Departments, Area Commanders and DPOs.

The statement said Inalegwu specifically charged senior officers in the command to set good example to their subordinates in the efforts to provide security for lives and property in the territory.
