The Ogun State Police Command yesterday, recorded a new feat in its war against crime and criminality when it arrested a 20year old herbalist, over six months after killing his hotelier client.
It would be recalled that the decomposed body of the owner of JB hotel in Owode Yewa area of Ogun State, Alhaji Jimoh Bello was found in the booth of his Toyota Camry Car at Omo ilu, Owotedo area by residents who perceived the offensive odour of the slain hotelier inside his car on the 29th of May this year.
The residents had reported the gory incident to the Police who immediately, swooped into action.
When the police got to the scene, the car door was forced open and the corpse of the deceased was discovered in the booth of the car. The case was subsequently transferred to the Homicide section of the State Criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation with clear mandate to fish out the killers.
The Csp Femi Olabode led team embarked on intelligence and technical based investigation which led them to the arrest of a 20-year- old herbalist by name Misipode Dosu who happened to be the last person seen with the deceased.
On interrogation, the suspect confessed that the deceased contracted him for a money making ritual of which he billed him the sum of N300,000 out of which the deceased paid him N250,000.
He explained that after some time, the deceased started pressurizing him that he has not seen any positive outcome of the ritual.
He added that out of fear that the deceased could report him to the police for obtaining money from him under false pretence, he invited him to come for the final stage of the ritual at Idiroko.
The herbalist said that when the late Hotelier got to him, he gave him a concoction prepared with a poisonous substance to eat and the man slumped and died,immediately eating the concoction.
The suspect added that he later put the deceased inside the booth of his car and drove the car and parked it at the place where the corpse was recovered.
Meanwhile, the State Police Boss,Edward Ajogun had directed that the suspect be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction as soon as investigation into the heinous crime was concluded
