Gains in MTN, DANGCEM, others lift the market by 1.55% higher

Gains in the prices of MTN Nigeria, Dangote Cement, BUA CEMENT and other 35 stocks lifted the activities on the floor the Nigerian equity market on Monday to a higher close as the All Share Index appreciated by 1.55% to settle at 201,474.89 points from the previous close of 198,407.30 points.

The Market Capitalisation grew by 1.55% to close at N129.330 trillion from the previous close of N127.361 trillion, thereby gaining N1.97 trillion.

An aggregate of 948 million units of shares were traded in 72,735 deals, valued at N49.2 billion.

The Market Breadth closed positive as 38 equities appreciated in their share prices against 30 that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

BUACEMENT led other gainers with 10.00% growth to close at N297.00 from the previous close of N270.00.

Premier Paints, JOHNHOLT and Guinea Insurance among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.79%, 9.52% and 9.37% respectively.

Percentage Losers

VFDGROUP led other price decliners as it shed 10.00% each of its share price to close at N11.25 from N12.50.

Royal Exchange, OMATEK and Sovereign Trust Insurance among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.63%, 9.62% and 9.00% respectively.

Volume Drivers

Sovereign Trust traded about 73 million units of its shares in 372 deals, valued at about N147 million.

ACCESSCORP traded about 70 million units of its shares in just 2510 deals, valued at N1.76 billion.

FIRSTHOLDCO traded about 67 million units of its shares in 743 deals, valued at N3.35 billion.
