Osun 2026: Oyebamiji promises insurance scheme for traders, secures Sabo Market endorsement

By Sunday Oguntuyi, Osogbo
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the August 15, 2026 election in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has promised to introduce a reliable insurance scheme for traders across the state if elected governor.
Oyebamiji made the pledge on Thursday during a visit to the popular Sabo Market in Osogbo, where traders formally endorsed his candidacy ahead of the governorship election.
The APC candidate also assured market men and women of his administration’s support through grants, cooperative programmes and other initiatives aimed at boosting small businesses and improving livelihoods.
He pledged to run an inclusive government that would accommodate all stakeholders and ensure broad participation in governance.
Oyebamiji urged residents of the state not to be swayed by alleged attempts to influence voters through the purchase of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), advising them to safeguard their voter cards and use them to elect a government that would promote the state’s development.
He said: “My administration will prioritise the welfare of traders and small business owners. We will introduce a reliable insurance scheme for traders and provide grants and cooperative support to help businesses grow.
“We are committed to running an all-inclusive government that will carry everyone along and ensure that all segments of society have a voice in governance.”
Earlier, the Babaloja of Sabo Market, Alhaji Kamorudeen Adebayo, and the Iyaloja, Alhaja Medinat Oladele, speaking on behalf of the traders, declared their support for the APC candidate.
The market leaders said the traders had confidence in Oyebamiji’s vision for the state and were ready to mobilise support for his election.
“On behalf of all traders in Sabo Market, we hereby endorse Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) as our preferred candidate for the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State,” they said.
