Fresh peace moves in Rivers as Tinubu hosts Wike, Fubara in Abuja

Signs of a possible de-escalation in the Rivers State political crisis emerged on Monday night after President Bola Tinubu reportedly convened a meeting with key actors from the state at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to a report by The Nation, the closed-door meeting involved the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and other prominent stakeholders.

While details of the discussions were not made public, the newspaper reported that Governor Fubara later accompanied Wike to his Guzape residence in Abuja after the talks with the President.

The report also claimed that the governor allegedly appealed to Wike and assured him of respect going forward, a development interpreted as a possible step towards reconciliation between the two political figures whose rift has unsettled governance in the state.
