Osun 2026: Oyintioye calls for unity in APC

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has said the forthcoming governorship elections in Ekiti State and Osun will serve as a major test of the party’s strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker, said the performance of the APC in the two states would indicate the party’s readiness for the next national elections.

Speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, he stressed that the party must secure victory in both contests to maintain momentum going into the 2027 polls.

According to him, a strong showing in the governorship elections scheduled for June 20 in Ekiti and August 15 in Osun would reinforce the political dominance of the APC and strengthen the prospects of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next presidential election.

“The Ekiti and Osun elections will serve as a litmus test for the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections in the country,” Oyintiloye said.

“The two elections are very crucial for the APC because they will be conducted a few months before the general elections. The party must win the two states.

“Victories for the APC in the two states will boost the party’s confidence and solidify its supremacy in the political landscape of the country.”

Oyintiloye noted that the Osun governorship race would be particularly significant because the party aims to reclaim power from the incumbent administration.

He expressed confidence that the APC would defeat the current government and secure victory at the polls through what he described as effective coordination among party leaders in the state.

The APC chieftain attributed the party’s optimism to the efforts of key leaders, including former Osun governor Bisi Akande, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola, the party’s National Secretary Ajibola Basiru, and the Osun State chairman of the party Tajudeen Lawal.

He said their collaboration and strategic planning had strengthened the party’s preparation for the election.

Oyintiloye also expressed confidence in the APC governorship candidate in Osun, Bola Oyebamiji, describing him as capable, dependable and widely accepted within the party and across the state.

“The task has become easier with the choice of our candidate, Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji, who is a capable, reliable and dependable leader who enjoys broad support among party members and the people of the state,” he said.

However, Oyintiloye called on aggrieved members of the party to put aside their grievances and work together to ensure victory in the election.

He emphasised that unity among party members would be critical to the APC’s success in both the Ekiti and Osun polls, urging supporters to rededicate themselves to the party’s goals ahead of the elections.
