Breaking: Nigeria defeats Guinea 1-0 to qualify for AFCON round of 16

The Super Eagles of Nigeria becomes the first team in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations to qualify for the round of 16 after defeating the Syli national of Guinea 1 – 0.

They did not have the best of performance in the first half but came out strongly in the second half.
Guinea were the better side in the first half as they had more possession of the ball. Guinean skipper Naby Keita caused a lot of problems for the Supr Eagles in the heart of the midfield. In the second half he was marked out of the game by Wilfred Ndidi. He was later taken out of the match due to injury concerns.

Nigeria broke the deadlock in the 74th minute from a corner kick by Moses Simon which was headed into the net by Kenneth Omeruo.

Nigeria is top of group B as it stands with six points.
