Amid NNPP crisis, Kwankwaso receives Nasarawa LG supporters in Kano

Former Kano State Governor and national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Sunday hosted a delegation of residents from Nasarawa Local Government Area who paid him a solidarity visit at his residence in Kano.

In a message shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account after the visit, Kwankwaso thanked the group for what he described as their steadfast support despite recent political setbacks.

He said the visitors’ decision to stand with him reflected courage and a shared commitment to the collective interests of the people rather than personal gain.

“Despite the trials that have tested the faith and resolve of many, they have chosen to remain firm with us in pursuit of progress and the well-being of our people,” Kwankwaso said.

The NNPP leader noted that the delegation’s show of support underscored the resilience of the Kwankwasiyya movement, which he described as a grassroots-driven political philosophy with deep roots across northern Nigeria.

He assured supporters that the movement remained focused and undeterred by internal challenges, expressing confidence that its objectives would ultimately prevail.

“Our resolve to uphold and advance the ideals of Kwankwasiyya remains unshaken. The journey continues, and victory will be determined by the will of the people,” he said.

The visit came against the backdrop of growing turmoil within the NNPP. On Friday, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, along with 21 members of the Kano State House of Assembly, eight members of the House of Representatives and 44 local government chairmen, announced their exit from the party, citing unresolved leadership disputes and ongoing legal battles.
