Adeyemo emerges Oyo APC chairman as new exco takes shape by consensus

A new State Executive Committee (EXCO) of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has emerged through consensus at the party’s congress held at the Liberty Stadium, Oke Ado, Ibadan.
At the congress, former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, was elected chairman of the party.
The announcement was made by Mr Afeez Bolaji Repete, a former APC National Youth Leader and secretary of the party’s ad hoc zoning committee, under the supervision of the congress committee constituted by the party’s national leadership in Abuja.
In his acceptance speech, Adeyemo pledged to run an inclusive administration that would accommodate all tendencies within the party. He promised to prioritise unity, discipline and grassroots mobilisation.
He assured members that the new executive would reposition the APC as a formidable political force in the state ahead of future elections.
Also returned at the congress was Hon. Wasiu Olawale Sadare, who retained his position as Publicity Secretary. Dr Taofeek Lamidi emerged as Deputy Chairman, while Barr. Fatai Adesina was elected Secretary. Hon. Lukman Owonikoko was named Assistant Secretary, alongside other executive members.

Prior to the congress, party stakeholders had agreed on a zoning arrangement based on consensus.
In a statement made available to journalists by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Sadare, the decision followed consultations among key leaders across the 33 local government areas of the state.
He disclosed that an ad hoc zoning committee was constituted to allocate positions in the State Executive Committee among local government chapters.
The committee was chaired by Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, with Repete serving as secretary. Other members included Idris Adeoye, Adesoji Adedeji, Ajiboye Sangogade and Akeem Olatunji.
Meanwhile, a former lawmaker, Badmos, has congratulated Adeyemo on his emergence, expressing confidence that the APC is repositioned to reclaim power in Oyo State in 2027.
