Talented musician, BusolaOke popularly known as Eleyele, made a remarkable entrance into the entertainment industry with the release of her song “Eleyele” .Busolawho whohas carved a niche for herself in the entertainment industry recently spoke with YINKALAWAL about her new album,Emi Mimo”, her career and other issues.

What is Eleyele working on, what’s new with you?

I just came out with a new album titled Emi mimo, meaning Holy Spirit and I am shooting the video of that album. I have a track that is hip hop in it. I featured LKT, and a new artiste on my record label. His name is 97 Dude.

You mentioned featuring Artquake and LKT in one of the tracks, what was the experience like?

Featuring LKT &Artquake was a very wonderful experience; I personal love that track ‘Ejeunjo’ (let me dance) so much because of its unique style and the way the two artistes interpreted the song; was really professional.

Your monthly lovers show at Rodizzo Club is the talk of the town, how was the idea hatched?

Night out with Queen BusolaOke at Rodizzio is allabout keeping in touch with my fans & music lovers around , the show comesup once in a month and it also promotes young talents & upcoming artiste, the show is all about showcasing both upcoming artistes and the popular ones.
Apart from being an artiste, you own a record label, what should we be expecting from your label in terms of signing on other artistes?

Yes; I now have my own record label ‘Royal Water Records & Entertainments Ltd’ and I recently signed on an artiste for the label; that sings juju gospel known as Segun Royal. So, my new Album, Emi Mimo is out now, go and get your copy.
As an artiste, what challenges do you face?

Everyone knows that nothing good comes easy and, being an artiste, facing challenges is a bit compulsory because we are human. I have been through the ups and down of entertainment industry which has no limit and as human being too having challenges is natural but how you handle the trial times is what matters.

How would you describe your kind of music?

I am a professional musician; I do differentkinds of music. An inspirational singer sings reality he or she sings from anatural source something that will move you or remind you of something that isreal something that will touch your soul and also pass a message but, a gospelartiste is like a minister of God his or her song might either be preaching thegospel or praising and appreciating God through Songs

You arefamous for your Eleyele hit; do you think there is still market for your kindof music?

Thank God for Eleyele but my kind of music is theOriginal African beat and style it’s not of the western world or imitations itis real and anything that is real makes way anywhere and everywhere but at thesame time I am not the best, my music is not the best and there is still roomfor amendments and more improvement.

You have attained a great height in your career;do you have any regret in life?

I have no regrets but the only painful thing isthat my father died he didn’t reap much from the fruit of his labour but Ithank God he was convinced about my chosen career he wanted me to be a lawyer but I read mass communication instead. And didn’t even practice what I read in school instead I chose tobe a singer which really caused a fracture in our relationship at the beginning but with time he realized this was my destiny. He came to terms with what I am doing before he passed on.

Have you ever been betrayed and how did you feel about the experience?

Betrayal is inevitable so it’s not a big issueanymore everybody knows betrayal is the most common thing on this planet sopeople get betrayed all the time but intelligent people always handle it wisely. And being a professional you should always be ready for the best or the worst.

If you have your way, what would you change about yourself?

let me be factual if I have my way I would love to still be a Lawyer I owe that to my father but I know I may not be able to practice law because of my chosen career and because I am not getting any younger but only if.

What are the pains and gains of being a musician?

The best part is when your fans say they love your music. The fact that your fans tell you that we are enjoying your music, it makes me happy. It boosts my morale, and then you feel like doing more.

What I don’t like is the way people criticize musicians, the way they see artistes as nonentities or prostitutes; people of low class or opportunists. They don’t give artistes respect, like they do to lawyers, doctors and other professionals.

Music has given me a lot of strength; so much strength and the ability to do so many things. It makes me to be courageous. With music, I am fulfilled.

Can you tell us the nicest thing you have heard about yourself from your fans?

I’ve heard so many nice things about me, but there is this one. There’s this woman who said I should teach her the tactics and my style; she said I should also teach her the charm that I am using to make people love me and my music so much; that her husband is crazy about my music and she doesn’t understand what is going on; that her husband is in love with me badly.

She says whatever we are doing, I should keep it up because everything is working for me and also that she’s noticed that a lot of people like my music. She hugged me and I said thank you ma. So, I was so excited. I was so fulfilled. I really thank God for everything.
