Police rescue Adelabu’s sister, twin sons in Oyo, kill two suspected kidnappers

The Nigeria Police Force has rescued the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her two sons following a coordinated operation that led to a gun battle with suspected kidnappers in Oyo State.

The victims, identified as Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were freed unharmed during a rescue operation conducted on Saturday evening.

Police sources said the operation, which took place at about 7:30 p.m., resulted in an exchange of gunfire between security operatives and members of the kidnapping gang.

During the confrontation, two suspected kidnappers were shot dead, while two firearms were recovered from the suspects.

Mrs. John-Paul and her children were reportedly abducted on June 3 while travelling to drop the twins off at school. Their abduction sparked concern among residents and prompted an intensive search by security agencies.

According to sources familiar with the operation, intelligence gathering, surveillance, and sustained pressure mounted on the kidnappers helped security operatives track the gang’s movements and locate their hideout.

The rescue mission culminated in a fierce gun duel, forcing the kidnappers to abandon their captives as police operatives closed in on them.

The victims were successfully rescued without injury and have since been reunited with their family.
