Julius Berger Retains West Africa’s Top Construction Award
Leading engineering and construction giant, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, has once again been recognised as the Best Construction and Infrastructure Company of the Year (West Africa), retaining the prestigious title for the second consecutive year.
The award was presented on Thursday in Lagos during the 15th edition of the West Africa Innovation Awards, where Julius Berger emerged ahead of other notable industry players, including Micheleti Construction Ghana Limited and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Awards Organising Committee, Canmil Chineme, said the honour was reserved for organisations that have distinguished themselves as pillars of one of West Africa’s most critical sectors.
According to him, the award aims to encourage innovation, professionalism and customer-focused service delivery while promoting global best practices across the region’s construction and infrastructure landscape.
Chineme disclosed that after an extensive evaluation process and consultations by a panel of judges, the Governing Board of the West Africa Innovation Awards selected Julius Berger as the 2026 winner in recognition of its outstanding achievements in innovation, operational excellence and customer service.
Receiving the award on behalf of the company, Julius Berger’s Director of Administration, Abdulaziz Isa Kaita, described the recognition as a validation of the company’s more than five decades of commitment to quality, innovation, safety and nation-building across Nigeria and the West African sub-region.
“This award is more than a corporate accomplishment,” Kaita said. “It is a celebration of vision, resilience and the transformative role of infrastructure in driving economic growth, connecting communities and improving lives.”
He noted that Julius Berger’s legacy extends beyond construction projects to creating infrastructure that supports long-term development. He highlighted the company’s contributions to the delivery of bridges, highways, airports, seaports, industrial facilities, hospitals and other critical national assets.
Kaita reaffirmed the company’s commitment to advancing infrastructure development through innovative engineering solutions, sustainable construction practices, cold recycling technology, local content development, human capital investment, and adherence to the highest standards of health, safety and environmental management.
He added that Julius Berger’s projects continue to generate employment, stimulate economic activity, improve connectivity and contribute significantly to national development across West Africa.
The Director dedicated the award to the company’s workforce, including engineers, architects, technicians, operators, artisans and administrative personnel, whose dedication and professionalism have sustained the company’s reputation for excellence.
The event also honoured several other organisations for outstanding performance in their respective sectors, including Sovereign Trust Insurance PLC, Vitafoam Nigeria Plc, CRC Credit Bureau Limited and West African Human Resource Outsourcing Company. The ceremony was marked by celebration and recognition of excellence across the West African business landscape.
