Guardiola dismisses exit rumours, insists he remains committed to Man City

Pep Guardiola has dismissed speculation linking him with a possible departure from Manchester City, insisting he remains fully committed to the Premier League champions despite reports suggesting the club is preparing for life after him.
According to reports by BBC Sport on Tuesday, City were allegedly making contingency plans ahead of Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Aston Villa, with former assistant coach Enzo Maresca reportedly emerging as a leading replacement candidate.
But Guardiola moved swiftly to shut down the rumours during his pre-match press conference ahead of City’s away clash against AFC Bournemouth.
“So many times, I have one more year,” the Spaniard said when questioned about growing uncertainty surrounding his future at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola, whose current contract with City still runs for another season, also rejected suggestions that the ongoing fixtures could represent a farewell tour.
“I am here, I have a contract,” he stated firmly.
The 55-year-old was further asked about reports claiming the club could rename the newly expanded North Stand in his honour should he leave this summer.
“No, no, no, no, no, no, I have no idea about that,” Guardiola replied.
“They don’t have to do anything, honestly,” he added.
Since taking charge of Manchester City in 2016, Guardiola has overseen the most successful era in the club’s history, guiding the team to six Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League crown, three FA Cups and five League Cups.
Despite persistent speculation over his future, Guardiola remains on course to add another league title to his remarkable collection after already leading City to FA Cup and Carabao Cup triumphs this season.
