Fire erupts at Head of Service building in Abuja, emergency teams contain blaze

A fire broke out on Monday morning at the Federal Secretariat complex in Abuja, sending workers and visitors fleeing and prompting a swift emergency response.

The blaze, reported around 8:20 a.m., affected Section C of the complex, which accommodates parts of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. Witnesses described thick black smoke rising from the building shortly after the fire started.

Staff members in nearby offices were seen evacuating as a precaution while emergency responders were alerted to the scene.

The media office of the Head of Service confirmed the incident, assuring that the outbreak was contained to Section C. “The fire outbreak is limited to Section C of the building and is currently being attended to by emergency officials,” the statement read.

Authorities have not disclosed the cause of the fire, and investigations are expected to follow once the situation is fully under control.
