BREAKING: Manchester United Sack Ruben Amorim After Disappointing Reign

Manchester United have parted ways with manager Ruben Amorim, with the club struggling in sixth place in the Premier League.
The club confirmed the decision on Monday, announcing that Darren Fletcher – the former Scottish international and current under-18s coach – will take temporary charge for Wednesday’s fixture.
Amorim’s last game in charge was Monday’s 1-1 draw at Leeds, after which the Portuguese coach hinted at internal tensions. He said:
“I came here to be the manager, not just the coach. In every department — scouting, the sporting director — they need to do their job. I will do mine for 18 months and then we move on. That was the deal. That is my job, not to be a coach.”
Appointed in November 2024 and initially described as “head coach,” Amorim arrived with high expectations following his successful tenure at Sporting CP. However, his tactical approach, particularly his preferred 3-4-3 formation, struggled to yield consistent results at Old Trafford.
United’s 2024-25 campaign was turbulent, with the team finishing 15th, just four points above the relegation zone. Growing dissatisfaction among fans and within the club ultimately led to the decision to part ways with Amorim.
The sacking opens a new chapter in United’s ongoing search for managerial stability, with speculation already mounting over who will lead the club’s revival and return to title contention.
