INEC steps in as PDP factions clash, summons Wike, Makinde camps to Abuja

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stepped into the ongoing leadership tussle within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), summoning the party’s rival factions to its Abuja headquarters for mediation talks.
The session, currently underway, brings together the Tanimu Turaki-led faction, supported by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and the Abdulrahman Mohammed faction, aligned with former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.
Turaki arrived with senior members of his National Working Committee (NWC), party secretariat officials, and former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu.
Mohammed’s team includes officials from the PDP’s national caretaker committee, led by the party secretary, Senator Sam Anyanwu.
The meeting underscores INEC’s active role in attempting to resolve the party’s internal disputes, as tensions continue to mount between the rival camps.
