Soludo Denies Consulting Native Doctor Ahead of Anambra Guber Poll

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has denied reports alleging that he consulted a native doctor in preparation for his re-election bid in the November 8, 2025 governorship election.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, the governor dismissed the reports as “false, malicious and deliberately misleading.” The government clarified that the viral video being circulated online was taken out of context and misrepresented to damage the governor’s image.
“The attention of the Anambra State Government has been drawn to a malicious online publication and social media posts falsely claiming that Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, consulted a native doctor regarding his re-election. This is a total fabrication,” the statement read.
According to the government, the video in question was recorded during a recent interactive session between Governor Soludo and Anambra-based content creators. The event, facilitated by the Special Senior Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the state government and the creative sector.
“One of the content creators performed a native doctor skit — a popular comic act in Nigeria’s entertainment scene — purely for entertainment purposes. It was not, in any form, a consultation session with a native doctor,” the statement emphasized.
The government described the misrepresentation of the skit as a desperate attempt by political opponents to mislead the public and distract from the governor’s developmental strides.
“Governor Soludo has never, and will never, rely on fetish consultations to win an election. He depends solely on the goodwill of Ndi Anambra and his strong record of performance anchored on the ‘Solution Agenda,’” the statement continued.
The government also highlighted Soludo’s commitment to developing the creative economy in Anambra, citing projects such as the recently commissioned SOLUTION FUN CITY as part of efforts to promote youth empowerment and economic diversification.
“It is unfortunate that some critics have chosen to twist a harmless entertainment session into a political weapon,” the statement added, urging the public and media outlets to verify information before sharing, especially in the heat of election season.
Reaffirming Governor Soludo’s commitment to transparency, good governance and development, the state government assured that it would not be distracted by “the antics of desperate political opponents who have chosen falsehood over constructive engagement.”
The statement concluded with a call for vigilance, urging Ndi Anambra and Nigerians to reject misinformation and focus on the real issues that matter for the future of the state.
