2027: Abia Onyike declares intention to contest Afikpo/Edda reps seat

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Abia Onyike, has formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State in the 2027 general elections.
Onyike, a former commissioner for information, made his intention known in a press release issued on Saturday, where he said he would seek the party’s ticket to represent the constituency at the National Assembly.
According to him, his decision to join the race is driven by a desire to contribute to the development and future aspirations of the Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency in Ebonyi State.
He disclosed that in the coming days and weeks he would embark on consultations with critical stakeholders across the two local government areas that make up the constituency – Afikpo North and Edda – to share his vision and exchange ideas on the development of the area.
“I wish to seize this opportunity to inform our people at home and in the diaspora about my intention to vie for the slot of the House of Representatives for Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency in the 2027 General Elections under the platform of my party, the All Progressives Congress (APC),” Onyike said.
“In the coming days and weeks, I intend to consult with stakeholders in the two local government areas to share my vision and exchange views with them on important issues relating to the future and developmental aspirations of the Federal Constituency.”
The APC aspirant called on constituents both within Nigeria and in the diaspora to support his ambition, expressing optimism that collective effort would help advance the development of the constituency.
He also extended Easter greetings to the people of the constituency, wishing them a joyful celebration.
