Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari has said he will send special envoy to his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa over attacks on Nigerians in the country.

The president who made the announcement Tuesday, via his twitter handle, @MBuhari, said the idea is to ensure that the South African government is doing all that is necessary to stop the attacks.

“I am sending a Special Envoy to President Ramaphosa to share our deep concern about the security of Nigerian lives and property in South Africa, and to ensure that the South African Government is doing everything within its power in this regard,” Buhari said.

While there had been reports that the president will embark on official visit to South Africa, the decision to send special envoy suggests he may have backtracked.
