Profit-taking wipes N479bn off NGX as investors dump banking, consumer stocks

The Nigerian Bourse on Wednesday experienced yet another bullish close as Transcorp Hotel and four other stocks grew their value by 10.00% apiece to lead the gainers chart

The All Share Index grew further by 0.61% to close at 219,586.20 points from Tuesday’s close of 218,249.81 points.

Investors gained N861 billion as market capitalisation advanced to N141.38 trillion from N140.523 of the last trading session.

An aggregate of 683.7 million units of shares were traded in 51,694 deals, valued at N36 billion.

Market Breadth

The Market Breadth closed positive as 31 equities appreciated in their share prices against 28 that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

Transcorp Hptel, UACN, CAP, VITAFOAM and Trans Nationwide Express led other gainers with 10.00% growth each to close above their previous close

NASCON and Sovereign Trust Insurance grew by 9.85% and N9.52% respectively ahead of other gainers.

Percentage Losers

NEIMETH tops the losers’ chart losing 10.00% of its share price, while ABBEYBUILDING and Living Trust Insurance shed their share prices by 9.85% and 8.94% respectively.

Volume Drivers

FIRSTHOLDCO traded about 77 million units of its shares were traded in 1301 deals, valued at about 5.78 billion.

UBA traded about 55 million units of its shares were traded in 2148 deals, valued at N2.8 billion.

ACCESSCORP traded about 52 million units of its shares in 2897 deals, valued at about N1.62 billion.
