No fewer than six people were killed in a suicide bombing that occurred at a wedding (Fatiha) in Tashan Alade in the Hawul Local Government Area of Bornu state on Friday, Hallmark news has learnt.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Aderemi Opadokun, who spoke to journalists on the telephone, said that 30 people were also injured during the attack.

According to Opadokun six persons, all male, whose identities are unknown, are confirmed dead, while 30 others were injured.

However, the police had commenced investigations into the issue even though the inauguration of Governor Kashim Shettima for a second term in office in Maiduguri was peaceful.

A local vigilance group member in the area, Mustapha Ibrahim, in a telephone interview with our correspondent revealed that the incident happened at about 6.10am on Friday.
